Confirmed from Burlington Dike Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Peaceful place to walk your animals, including the kid's 😏. We usually end up walking the dike and making our way to the river's sandbar next to the railroad trestle. There's also a disc golf course there and fields to play soccer, baseball or even for someone who wants to take their drone out.

I came into the trail via the disc golf park, not realizing these were two separate "places". I just walked the back of the park but will trek a little further along next time. Super easy walk and nice flat ground to walk. Super pretty for an early morning!

A great little park to walk along the river or take the bike out and take pictures along the trail for little stops to enjoy the scenery. A very cool bridge to check out too!

Gravel or dirt trail depending on what section you walk in, borders the river. Frisbee golf at the south end. Playground and sports field at the north end. Easy flat walking.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
