Confirmed from Burnett Woods Park & Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
A wooded nature preserve covering 68 acres with loop trails, known for wildflowers & mature trees.
What runners say about Burnett Woods Park & Nature Preserve
“Very secluded, green, well kept trails even though theyre not used much.”
“This is a beautiful little walk through native Indiana woods.”
Awesome place for a quick hike! The trails and parking are very clearly marked. The main grass trail was pretty over grown when I went today. I contacted Central Indiana Land Trust to see if I could volunteer some mowing time to tidy up! CSX yard is not too far away and you can hear it pretty well.
Cute, short trails tucked away behind a church area. Follow the address and park in the parking lot towards the back. From there, we followed the vague vehicle track around the outskirts of the meadow until we found the preserve opening. Before you get into the woods area the trails are thin.
Nice quiet spot in the middle of Avon. Low traffic, very well kept trails for what it is. Main entrance is corner of the woods closest to the road. From the church parking lot looking east at the woods, the entrance is at the corner of the woods to your right.
Hidden park! No official entrance. Park at church and use the bike path by the road to find the trail entrance. Church has a nice playground too.
Trail conditions & character
“Even on a hot day the short walk (other than from the parking lot) wasn't too hot and you got the feeling you were further away from toen than you were.”
“When it's been raining the trails will be muddy, likely real muddy, but you'll have that anywhere.”
“It is a beautiful wooded area with diverse plant life.”
