Confirmed from Camino de Oeste Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Desert trail leading to the ruins of a stone home with panoramic views from the 1930s.
What runners say about Camino de Oeste Trailhead
“The abundance of saguaro cactus on the red, orange and brown mountain rocks is beautiful.”
“This part of the Yetman Trail is good for all ages and nearly all fitness levels.”
It is one of the easiest and shortest hikes you can do in Tucson. But you get to see the Bowen Stone house, so it is well worth the hike.
Easy parking, high traffic trail. Saw deer and rabbits and quail. Stone house is beautiful!
Lovely easy trail for a short pleasant hike/walk. Only 2.6 mile out and back.
We hiked a great piece of the David Yetman trail. The change in terrain and plant-life is spectacular. The abundance of saguaro cactus on the red, orange and brown mountain rocks is beautiful. You can hike the trail or the wash. The views will be beautiful, no matter which you choose.
Trail conditions & character
“The abundance of saguaro cactus on the red, orange and brown mountain rocks is beautiful.”
“Trail head has limited parking not suitable for pickups or larger depending on whether the lot is full, @10 spaces.”
“Some of the lesser trails also beg for good boots to deal with loose rock on steep ups or downs such as seen on the Stonehouse trail.”

- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
