Confirmed from Canal/Hawes Trail Head Park and Ride's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Canal/Hawes Trail Head Park and Ride

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (31 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

If you have the tenacity you can see views like this. It’s a great spot to park to access some amazing bike trails. If you are a hiker and trailer runner be aware of mountain bikers these trails were primarily built for riders. All the riders I d come across are nice. There’s enough single track for everyone to enjoy.

Great technical trail to the mineshaft. Not for beginners. Make sure you bring spare inter-tubes. A friend who did not have stans in his tubeless tires rode over some spurs (they are all over the trails) and lost tire pressure in both tires fast. Fortunately, I had brought a set of two inner tubes to save the day

There is enough room to pull our 28ft travel trailer through on a weekend for some day time trail riding. The overpasses create some shade too. Easy access to some of the plazas father down that you may not be able to access with an RV, van, or camper.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
