Confirmed from Cane Creek Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

My favorite place to walk in Cookeville!! Amazing breath-taking views with such a serene and peaceful atmosphere. I love it here! With a path that wraps around a beautiful lake that is the perfect distance to walk with family, my dog or myself.

We loved this park. Nice paved walking trail around a peaceful lake. A nice mix of sun and shade on the 2 mile walk. Lots of wildlife to enjoy too. We loved it so much that we went twice during our short visit in Cookeville.

★★★★★ — Sue , May 2025

Absolutely beautiful park. Everything envelopes around a serene small with lake lots of trees. Tons of kids play structures and plenty of parking with a well managed one way street flow. Fishing docks, kayak/canoe rentals, frisbee golf course, beautiful walking trail, kids rec center.

★★★★★ — Andy , Jul 2024

Excellent place to be active at. They offer canoeing and kayaking for around 6 to 8$ an hour. They also have two trails that are 1.8 and 1.9 miles, disc golf (with tournaments!), and plenty of play areas for the little ones!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Cane Creek Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
