Confirmed from Prayer Mountain's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic spot featuring a hiking trail and prayer board with sunset views.
What runners say about Prayer Mountain
“A quite beautiful place to go and see the beautiful surroundings that God has given us.”
“A very nice place to view the full moon, overlooks the town and is quiet and peaceful.”
My son found this while walking around the area. He came back and said Mom let me show you this paper. I started crying because I have tried very hard to raise my son with christian beliefs, and I think I done a pretty good job. He read the leaflet and done all the stages to find God.
This was a stumbled upon adventure. This is a beautiful place serine and quite. There is a prayer board for you to pray for others and a place to leave a prayer. My next trip to Cookeville Tennessee we plane on taking on this prayer hike.
The walk to the cross is uphill and paved. Love the "take a prayer request, leave a prayer request" board concept before you ever the hiking trail. The hike is pretty, too. A lady drove directly up to the cross in her car looking for someone to pray for her while we were there, so we all stood in a circle and prayed.
Ya know, for something so glaringly obvious in the middle of cookeville, it took us a while to come here finally. It is a ONE car road up and down. It’s not a busy place, but be prepared to back down in case someone’s coming the other way. The view is amazing, and it’s a great sunset spot!
