Confirmed from Cascade Valley Metro Park-Valley View Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Cascade Valley Metro Park-Valley View Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (83 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 14 mentions

“The newly renovated area is absolutely beautiful and offers plenty of walking paths and trails for the average individual and/or family (with or without children).”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Some older couples were wishing there was a place to rest given the heat and lack of shade when you are hiking.”

Summit Metro Park's newest addition to their already impressive lists of parks, trails and recreational areas! Over the past five years, the park district has transformed the former Valley View Golf Course by reintroducing native plants and allowing the nature to reclaim the site.

★★★★★ — Michael , Sep 2021

This is a new section recently opened for the Cascade Valley Metro park. Previously a golf course the park system purchased in 2016 and restored beautifully to a natural habitat. So far there are 2 trails both a mile long with a third connector trail in the works.

★★★★★ — S , Aug 2024

Gorgeous walking. Peaceful and convenient location. Beautiful especially at dawn or dusk.

★★★★★ — Kevin , Dec 2021

This is a newer park that was previously a golf course and is now uniting 2 other metro parks. It is supposed to have some kind of water access to the stream coming soon. It has a lovely lodge with a/c and restrooms that would be great for events. The trails are mostly in the sun with no benches yet.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Cascade Valley Metro Park-Valley View Area

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
