Confirmed from Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park North Cape Flats Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature area featuring trails (some leading to the coast) plus fishing and birding.
What runners say about Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park North Cape Flats Trail
“Beautiful views, great fishing spots and tons of shade to throw a blanket down and picnic.”
“Quiet area with nice views of charlotte harbor.”
I didn't know this place existed! Very beautiful. It looks really healthy and I saw a ton of different wildflowers, birds, and a gopher tortoise as well. The trail isn't too long and it ends at the water with a bench surrounded with seagrape and mangrove trees to watch the sunset.
Beautiful florida park. Nice little hike with water front hike. Go during low tide!
I had a nice hike here with a friend visiting from out of town. There's one main trail that takes you all the way to a small beach on the harbor. Not the best markings on the trail, but pretty obvious where to go.
A few different paths to pick from. Made the mistake at first to park just south of the main Visitor Center. But that was nice as well. The main visitor Center's paths are verry nice. We enjoyed the lake path very well, parts were a little muddy.
Trail conditions & character
“Not sure why it says it closes so early, the main trail leads to a west-facing water view that is obviously designed to allow you to watch the sun set.”
“The trail was a bit wet because the land is very low and right near the harbor, so be warned it could be muddy if there has been rain recently.”
“The start of the trail has a small parking lot, trashcan, map, and some information about the trail.”
“Quiet area with nice views of charlotte harbor.”
