Confirmed from Chesebro Open Space's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Chesebro Open Space

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (38 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful landscape, peaceful and lots of trail options!”

Great natural beauty and quiet solitude, however the destruction caused by the Woolsey fire is quite apparent. Much needs to be done to better manage these natural resources. A wonderful place to take the family on a hike or ride your mountain bike. Make sure to wear good durable shoes or boots and bring water.

★★★★☆ — Barry , Jan 2019

I usually take the trail to the right which loops around back to Chesebro, crosses the road and then follows Chesebro back on the other side of the road to the parking lot. It is a perfect loop to do for people who hikes with dogs or for runners as it is flat and wide and has plenty of shady areas for the dogs.

★★★★★ — Karen , Jun 2018

Love mountain biking and hiking from here. It's been a refreshing place to come to. I was completely unaware of this area until a few months ago.

★★★★★ — Yves , Jun 2021

Awesome place to hike for every kind of physical activity. Make sure you bring plenty of water along on the track and watch out for snakes

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
