Confirmed from Chestnut Branch Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Chestnut Branch Park
“Great park it huge has everything many fields my first time here and I was impressed very clean and great atmosphere”
I used to live near here and take my oldest son here when he was very young. The township takes good care of the park. So does the community. They have soccer games here and more. There is tennis, basketball courts and more.
Very nice clean park, has a few fields that are well kept as well. Please use caution when driving the walking pathway overlaps the driveway entrance. There are stop signs soooo stop! Also dont let your kid play in the parking lot either. Theres a whole park use it.
The blue trails are scenic and the 9/11 memorial is a nice touch. The soccer fields are well kept, and there are plenty of basketball nets and tennis courts. The playground used to be spectacular. There was two playsets, one for 4 and up, the other was for 2 to 6. The smaller one is now gone, unfortunately.
Nice local park, not as expansive as Washington Lake but bigger than Ella Harris. Short woods trail on south side. New disc golf course I haven't used yet. Leashed dogs now allowed. I walk/run here a lot.
Trail conditions & character
“It was nice how the parking was set up as well and forced drivers to slow down.”
“They now allow dog owners to walk their dogs in the park.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
