Confirmed from Ceres Park Back Lot's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular park with tree-filled trails, for hiking, mountain biking and dog-walking.
What runners say about Ceres Park Back Lot
“Easy to get turned around, and some difficult terrain, but absolutely beautiful.”
“Not super well marked but small enough you really can’t get lost.”
Really nice trails! We went off the beaten path and had a bit of trouble getting back without crossing water, but we found a really fun rope swing! Bring rain boots unless you like muddy and wet feet! 😁
Nice trails, a good place to walk with my dog. There was no one here when we came on Sunday evening.
Big, beautiful open space to stretch your legs. Trails loop into each other and had no difficulty getting back to parking lot. Great place to walk dog.
Lots of trails, great for hiking, biking, and walks with kids. Lots of frogs and turtles for the kids to find.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
