Confirmed from Clear Creek Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Clear Creek Trail
Awesome trail through forest just south of 2nd in Coralville. It is a wide paved trail so it is good for walking and biking (if you have little kids keep an eye out for fast bikers). This trail is alongside clear creek and is very scenic. Lots of ephemerals in the spring.
We road this trail for the 1st time and loved it. We’ll be back. Heading West of Tom Harkin trail head is the best in our opinion. It’s a paved, wooded trail, but has skills area options for those who like that sort of thing
I haven't hiked too many trails before but this one in specific is top 3 for me. Would recommend trying it out. Parking was free and available.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
