Confirmed from Tom Harkin Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“A very much needed and appreciated trail side rest area with clean rest rooms for a single occupant.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“A gorgeous park with lots of trails.”

The single track trails are amazing. My very first experiences of this trail type didn't disappoint! You just have to be paying the utmost of attention at all times! I believe it was called the Woodpecker trail.

★★★★★ — Willis , Sep 2023

Paved parking lot, modern restrooms, picnic tables and access to the paved Clear Creek Trail and the Woodpecker Singletrack. The Clear Creek Trail connects to the Iowa River Corridor Trail eastbound and ends at Half Moon Road west of Tiffin, Iowa, westbound.

★★★★★ — Craig , Oct 2023

Great location to park and ride your bike or walk. During the dry season there are some well kept mountain bike trials that you can enjoy. All other paths are paved and well maintained. Pet friendly location.

★★★★★ — Aaron , Apr 2018

Great spot to start a hike or bike ride. The trail is mostly flat heading west. Going east toward Iowa City, the trail has some hills and is mostly in a nice wooded area.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
