We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Coalmine Brook and East-West Trailheads yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Coalmine Brook and East-West Trailheads

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (18 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

This trailhead is the start of a grand cross-city adventure which I undertook as part of my exploration of local green spaces. In small bits this can be a 1 mile round trip, multiple miles, up to 14 miles one way across the city linking many parks and recreation areas.

★★★★☆ — Central , Aug 2020

I enjoyed my adventure on the Eastern part of the trail, but got confused at the intersections on city streets a few times. Better markings on the sidewalks would help.

★★★★☆ — Patricia , Jan 2021

Very short back trail and little shade in the park. Otherwise, paved paths are perfect for younger kids with scooters. New playground with all the latest toys and safety features. For adults, there's a nice, basic "gym" area, shaded, and good for circuit workouts with instructions on use and target muscle groups.

★★★★☆ — Jake , Aug 2023

A few weekends ago, I completed the shorter segment of the East-West Trail that went from the top of Lake Quinsig to Bell Pond. The path brings you by Green Hill Park, the golf course, and the Coal Mine Brook. It was about 3.
