Confirmed from Connecticut River State Wildlife Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Quiet CT river find in Cromwell. Well off the beaten path so not many people around. Plenty of parking and several park benches / tables and a pavilion. There is a park where you can walk and people do enjoy fishing here . You can enjoy the CT River flowing by while sitting at the bench.

Cool CT river find in Cromwell. Well off the beaten path so not many folks around. Lots of bird activity and one drone. Plenty of parking and several park benches / tables and a pavilion.

Fun hike! I went with my nephew and walked all the way through to the CT river! You can look across to Portland, CT! Although alot of the view may be obscured by the highway (i.e. Route 9) depending on where you hike.

Serene and Beautiful. The view is spectacular when visiting during evening hours before sunset and you can enjoy a walk or sit on the bench overseeing the Connecticut River.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
