We had a blast here at the state park. We came from Dallas for a quick stop by and were excited to find such a beautiful park just an hour and a half away. The staff member at the gate was super friendly. He gave us a map and showed us the best scenic locations where we can drive to.
We had fun! Hiking trails are tough and rocky at times. Getting to the further western trails you have to go through multiple trails. What seems like you are going on a specific trail may add .75 - 1.25 extra miles to get to. No place to rest, no benches, trees or good rocks to sit and rest of needed.
I enjoyed the Coyote Run Hiking Trail - I went about 0.5 miles in. It has some rock base, with a lot of sandy soil. The store at the front had a good sample of products and the park employees were friendly. We got to ask questions about various fur pelts at 2 pm outside the store. The store bathrooms are clean.
Outstanding RV camping. Our site was perfect. Great hiking and biking trails. Lake is gorgeous, can't wait to go back with our jetskis.
