Confirmed from Dayton Port Roadside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I love this rest stop! Its definitely my favorite.. Its at a beautiful area and there's a path to the Mississippi River that runs beside it. The loop to park your cars on is such a nice road that is lined with trees. There are very clean bathrooms and friendly custodians on site during the day.

You will love this place. It is well maintained with pavilions, grills and access to the Mississippi River for swimming. It is beautiful. The maintenance guys here take pride in keeping it up. Very nice, friendly people. Underpaid I'm sure!

Ive been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the experience. The only thing that could be better i think is the vendors could service the machines more frequently. They seem to run out of snacks quickly. Otherwise everything else is perfect in my opinion.

I live in the area so sometimes I just go here because I like to take a break year. Near The Rum River, train tracks about a mile away for those that like to hear the occasional train go by. Bathrooms on site if people need them.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
