Confirmed from Deer Run Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Deer Run Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (23 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Pretty big parking lot, restrooms on site. Picnic tables with grill. The 2.4 mi Dear Run Trail also connect to the Buckeye Trail. This trail is a wooded trail with plenty of stones and roots. There are also man-made bridges and two roadways that you'll have to cross. You will also bypass a Red barn.

★★★★★ — Dave , Jun 2024

This is one of the best trails around. It’s a great workout also due to the highs elevation climb. Nice to do in the fall and the winter. Good for photography, cool bend in the road and a restored barn to shoot.

★★★★★ — Brian , Nov 2021

Nice trail, took one hour total to complete. It goes through inclinations and intersects the main road in between. We started from left side which might be easier than from the right side of parking lot.

★★★★★ — Swaroop , Oct 2023

A hidden gem, beautiful 1.8 mile loop, but be warned of the stairs, it can be a pretty intense climb if you’re not ready for it!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
