Confirmed from Derby Greenway Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Easy-to-find path (paved in places) for strolling, running, jogging, and cycling, along the Naugatuck River and another river.
What runners say about Derby Greenway Trail
“A beautiful paved trail with sunny sections as well as shaded areas with bench seats along the park area and some facing the Naugatuck River towards Rt 34.”
If I could I would give the Derby Greenway more than just a 5 star rating. A beautiful paved trail with sunny sections as well as shaded areas with bench seats along the park area and some facing the Naugatuck River towards Rt 34. No benches along the straight stretch going towards the Derby/Ansonia line.
About 2 mi trail along the river. Mostly flat and paved. Parking available I the entrance of Division St. River looks so pretty on one wide of the Trial but on the other there is train, shops, etc, so don't expect a Quiet walk but definitely a nice place in the middle of town.
Great place to run, walk, or bike. Plenty of birds to watch for as well. Songbirds as well as both common herons, great blue herons, ospreys and even the occasional bald eagle. Go early in the midsummer as there is not a lot of shade.
Easy to find and a nice paved walkway with benches. Parking is very accessible as well.

“Dogs are prohibited by ordinance due, in part, to the abundance of Canadian Geese family’s that breed here & the other wildlife ~ but you will see the occasional dog.”
“Easy running or walking path, well paved and fairly flat.”
