Confirmed from Veterans Memorial Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Scenic

Public park along the Housatonic River offering benches, trails, and a space for events.

What runners say about Veterans Memorial Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (199 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful place to sit and relax or to go for a walk/jog.”

3.31.23 A paved walkway. When I was a kid this site contained a very big factory...sponge rubber I think. Edit: Google "history of sponge rubber shelton.ct" View of the housantic river and rte 8 highway bridge and the very old train bridge (but still active).

This Park so nice. There are lot of parkings, there is also a river nearby . Great to play and run and very clean place

★★★★★ — Sashi , Jul 2023

This is a nice place to walk around when you are downtown. It is not very big but has a little trail that follows the river. They have farmers markets and the carnival here. They also have a very nice Veterans Memorial that you should check out. There is a decent parking lot next to the Conti building.

This is a nice little park for adults for walking and looking at the river. Usually this park is good for events. Kids may not enjoy this park that much since there's nothing much for them to do here.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
