Confirmed from Discovery Park at the River Line's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Small historical park with free admission and trails, some leading to earthen works, plus benches.
What runners say about Discovery Park at the River Line
“A few benchs with good bathrooms up front, which are clean.”
“Absolutely beautiful, clean and easily accessible”
“I found it to be a very peaceful and relaxing experience.”
“Lots of little critters to see & and easy hike.”
Very easy trail and dog friendly. It's about 1 mile with lot's of educational material to read.
Update: I finally got back out to Discovery to see all the parts I didn't ctlatch the 1st time. I did not expect the views even in a relatively small place. The varied landscapes make it seem much bigger than what it is. Original Post: I was able to explore several different trails my first time here.
This is a FANTASTIC park. We take our dog here all the time. Loop around the bottom is around 1.1 miles or so, and borders the Chattahoochee. It's partially paved and partially wooded / dirt, so just be mindful of that if it's been raining.
Thank you for your SPLOST funds Cobb County! This new park is still under construction but will add a nice place to take dogs, hike, walk, find solitude, and see unique views of the Chattahoochee river! There will be a nice wetlands boardwalk bridge to gain nice walking views along the river.

“The park is still developing new trails, You can't really see the river or the creek yet, but it looks like they are building boardwalk towards the river.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
