We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Dockweiler Beach yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Bustling public beach offering a hang gliding training park, bonfires & views of departing aircraft.
What runners say about Dockweiler Beach
“Fire pits for Bond Fire- Wide Clean Beaches, plenty of Space for the entire Family, it never Feels Over crowded even when it's Packed.”
“It offers a walking/riding trail that offers picturesque views to enhance your journey.”
This is a community beach. It doesn't have the fancy pier or touristy stores and/or restaurants. But, it does have what you really don't see on many beaches. It has an alcove setting with the back drop of mountains with an outlet for the Marina Del Ray harbor.
Very clean and well maintained beach that is quite large. We only came to watch the airplanes taking off and it was a fun experience. There were around 50-60 planes an hour. Thankfully came prepared with some earbuds since it was quite noisy.
I would not go to Dockweiler to sunbathe, there are other places for that. It is also not a place to surf. It is okay to swim in. What is great about it, is the fire pits. There are very few beaches in Los Angeles that have this feature and they have plenty and they are well spaced.
Wow ! Nice bike & running trail. I biked and loved that entire route. I went from end of the beach area alllllll the way to Venice Beach. Choose your bike rental wisely their are some cheap ones and then pricey ones. I paid a pretty penny but, no complaints my bike was comfy and I did not feel I overpaid.
