Confirmed from Dreamy Draw Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“I also felt that the trails are beginner friendly, so you can bring along the kids or people that don't typically hike.”

A great place to hike. LOTS of trails. I've actually temporarily gotten lost. But all you have to do is keep going, and you'll find your way. After all you're right in the middle of the city. Freeway to the west and to the north. So you can't really get lost. You may find a few old mine shaft entrances.

Great place to go for a walk, run, biking , take your family or significant other. This park has lots of trails, paths, and open space. I would recommend coming here early in the morning or when the sun is coming down.

★★★★☆ — Butt-Head , May 2024

This is a great local, to Phoenix, area to go to hike and walk. We also saw a number of mountain bikers. It is dog friendly, which was nice. The views of the western valley and Phoenix are spectacular. Located just off of Hwy 51, it is really easy to get to.

★★★★★ — Heather , Jan 2024

Great place to get out and hike in the middle of the city. There are bathrooms and water fountains at the trailhead. As well as a few ramadas. There are tons of trails at differing levels of difficulty, so there is something for everyone.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
