We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Eagle Rock Reservation yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular county park featuring recreation areas & hiking trails with views of the Manhattan skyline.
What runners say about Eagle Rock Reservation
“A beautiful place to see the skyline of New York City, it is also a memorial of those who died on September 11, 2001.”
“It’s a great spot for nature lovers and a peaceful way to spend a weekend morning.”
It has a very scenic and serene view of Manhattan. I love this place, particularly morning and evening when the sun shines on the world center of cornucopia emotions, thoughts, rumors, love, and hate, aka, NYC. In addition, there are many quiet and well-organized trails that you can enjoy.
"I highly recommend Eagle Rock for anyone who loves a good sunrise! The views of NYC are breathtaking. I also love the drive back down at the end of the visit; the road feels like a trail through the woods, and it’s very common to see deer wandering nearby or crossing the road.
This is a interesting hike. We could not find the trail that leads to the view of the NYC skyline. However, you can drive up there. The train was not really paved-not great if raining. Limited bathrooms. Park near the bottom then walk up.
Beautiful view of North New Jersey and New York City. Easy rambling trails but the view is where everyone gathers. The park abuts The High Lawn Restaurant which adds grandeur.
