Confirmed from East Point Audubon Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Walking around to the far side of the sanctuary, you get a gorgeous view of Wood Island Light.”

👟 good for all levels 5 mentions

“This is a fantastic place to go, especially if you are looking for an easy walk with a fantastic view.”

This is a fantastic place to go, especially if you are looking for an easy walk with a fantastic view. There is only street parking, be mindful of the signage as I hear they will ticket if you are parked in a no parking zone.

We walked the trail at the East Point Audubon Sanctuary on a somewhat foggy morning. Despite the fog it was still a nice walk. The trail is an out and back so you can turn around anywhere that you want and head back to your car. The entire trail is only about 1.

Such a great spot, for all ability levels. The trail is short and level. Park on the shoulder near the gate, then follow the patch through the woods. Shortly after that it opens up to the beautiful coastal scenery. I’m not a birder, but from what I was told by others in the trail, this is a nice spot for bird watching.

What a nice little place in Biddeford Pool! There's a loop trail that takes you right to beautiful views of the ocean. And if you like birding, there's tons of them!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 27 mentions

“I wanted to view Wood Island Lighthouse and visiting this sanctuary is one of the only places to see it other than by boat.”

Plan your run at East Point Audubon Sanctuary

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
