Confirmed from Timber Point Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area featuring a trail to a scenic ocean viewpoint and a 1700s estate.
What runners say about Timber Point Trail
“The views are stunning, especially near the coastline where you can see the water stretch out between the trees.”
“Timber Point Preservation is a hidden gem, one of the quietest, most serene spots I’ve visited in Maine.”
The Timber Point Trail is the newest trail in the Rachel Carson NWR. It's level and blissfully short -- about 1.4 miles out-and-back (longer if you go at low tide and explore Timber Island).
Beautiful walk along the shore. The white sand makes the water a beautiful turquoise like the Caribbean. Interesting old 1700’s estate and outbuildings to walk around.
This is a very simple (mostly) linear trail that leads up to the Timber Island, which you can walk across during low tide. Watch your step and make sure you have durable hiking shoes. You will need to be careful walking to the island, since some of the rocks are loose and covered in seaweed.
Went at the end of June and was anxious about the mosquitoes. Went at 10am, armed with bug spray, and had no issues whatsoever. Someone else mentioned we would've gotten eaten to death later in the day. Despite it being a hot day, the ocean breeze kept us cool the entire 1.4 mile loop.

“Parking here is rough as there are like 5 marked spots and there looked to be a couple more just down the back side of the embankment but I'm not sure if those were official spots.”
“Highlights include No Dogs, No Bikes, No camping or overnight parking.”

“Spectacular contrast of the spruce 🌲oak forest with the rocky Maine coast and crashing waves 🌊 in the backdrop 🇺🇸👌🇺🇸.”
