Confirmed from Elburn Forest Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded nature preserve with winding trails and a grassy landscape, plus shelters for picnics.
What runners say about Elburn Forest Preserve
“Just dont forget to clean up after yourself ;) One of those stations with doggy pick-up bags would be a very nice addition, just incase us pet owners forget our bags.”
“In spite of the sometimes crass expansion of the town of Elburn itself in recent years, the forest preserve of that name remains an oasis of calm and beauty.”
Nice quiet preserve (except when the trains go by!). Mix of grass and wooded trails. I ran into a few cobwebs in the wooded section of the trail. Recommend wearing a lot of bug spray.
It was beautiful! It wasn't crowded, it had very clean bathrooms, and a big hill to stretch the legs!
Elburn Forest Preserve is one of my favorite places in the area. In spite of the sometimes crass expansion of the town of Elburn itself in recent years, the forest preserve of that name remains an oasis of calm and beauty. I try to stop here whenever I can, even if it's only for a few moments.
This place is nice for a place for a walk. I like watching the trains go by and seeing what they are chugging along. There's weird bugs that you can find too and a lot of deer! There is a lot of poison oak and ivy so if you go off the path be careful. When exploring here I found some cool stuff around.
