Confirmed from Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Large park featuring native plants, picnic areas & hiking, biking & equestrian trails.

This is a beautiful hike in Harmony Grove just out of Escondido. It felt like we were much further out than we actually were which was really nice. There's a decent amount of parking and the trail starts by an active stream with lots of shaded trees. It took about an hour and 20 minutes up and about an hour back down.
First time there. Didn't know anything about it really. They have a visitor center. I was greeted by peaceful, beautiful harp music in there. I thought it was coming from speakers. Nope. Live person in there playing! Such a magical start to my first time hike there. I love the hike up, fairly rigorous.
Nice hiking 🥾, mountain biking 🚵♀️, and horse 🐎 riding trails in south west Escondido with a great view of Lake Hodges and Olivenhain reservoir and the ocean from the top. Next to the parking lot there is a small interpretive center which may be interesting to kids.
One of my favorite hikes in San Diego! The paths are well kept, the views are amazing, and the terrain isn’t too bad compared to some others I’ve been to! I would definitely suggest bringing a good amount of water as it is a pretty good workout.
