Confirmed from Ellsworth Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ellsworth Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (380 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 6 mentions

“It was clean and there was plenty of parking while we were there.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The path to all the amenities was very scenic and wheelchair accessible!”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“Nice and calm place, mostly empty but during Danville summer fairgrounds if is fully colored and many local attractions.”

Nice 9-hole disc golf course. Scenic for being a city course. First six holes loop along the parking lot, and they're okay. Hills in play on a couple, water in play on a few, but fairly open. 7-9 across the bridge add welcome variety. Your biggest obstacle will be wind, if present.

Great park to stop during a road trip with a toddler! We had some lunch at their picnic area (which has grills btw), then let the kid get some energy out at the playground. Lots of space to run around, plus the bridge is very pretty. Overall a very well maintained and safe-feeling park. Glad we chose this one!

Great park to walk around. Beautiful views of the river and the natural surroundings. We checked out the walking bridge this visit - it was worth the check. Historic area info I didn't know. Bonus: If you play frisbee golf, check out the course here in the park. It's a very nice course and a great walk.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain

  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
