Confirmed from Elm Ridge Wild Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Well-marked trails for hiking and mountain biking through a forest to an elevation gain.
What runners say about Elm Ridge Wild Forest
“Really nice well-maintained trail up to beautiful Wyndham High Peak with lots of views, not a hard climb with about 1600' elevation gain and many flat areas surprisingly.”
“Trail is very well marked and even with the trail covered in leaves there is no way you're getting lost.”
This place is incredibly beautiful and serene, I've hiked up to the lean-to twice from the Peck road trailhead; it's really difficult after it rains because the trail itself is actually an intermittent stream.
This is a truly superb mountain! Compared to most of the high peaks in the Catskill this one was easy! Just a few spots of longer elevation gain, no rock scrambles. Trail is very well marked and even with the trail covered in leaves there is no way you're getting lost.
I just discovered this place. I rode the mountain bike trails and had a great time. There are good trail markers and maps at key points. Some of the trails are shared with hikers so be alert. The other riders were helpful when I asked for suggestions. Fun loops are fun and not too demanding.
Elm Ridge Wild Forest trail network is located on Windham Mountain. It is one of New York States best MTB Trails absolutely well worth shredding 🤙 💨💨💨🚀

“There's plenty of parking right on Route 23.”
“I did this the long loop, which ended up being 13 miles and some but about 3 miles at the end is on a not well traveled road so even that road walk was pleasant.”
