Confirmed from Englewood Trailhead, George S. Mickelson Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“beautiful, very nice ride”

Such a beautiful ride! The trail is maintained very well which makes for a easier ride. We loved that they have so many resting spots along the trail.

★★★★★ — Nancy , Sep 2022

Awesome trail. About the only one that doesn't allow snowmobiles, so it's a nice quiet walk. Never any wind, always sunny. Just gorgeous. Highly recommended. That Black Hills forestry. We love you all. You keep us young.

One of the best rails to trails trails we've ever been on! Terrific scenery complete with tunnels, trestles, running streams, and wildlife. We used our ebikes to travel over 50 miles along various spots of the trail

★★★★★ — Stephen , Dec 2018

Great ride on groomed gravel trail. Too bad I only had time for 14 miles of the 109 mile trail. Long uphill stretches are rewarded with long down hill runs.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
