Confirmed from Erie-Lackawanna Trail - Summit St. Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Peaceful park featuring a paved trail with historical railroad buildings and water fountains.

One of my fav trails in NW Indiana. Especially, because it's really accessible from Chicago
I came when it was snowed the day before. So happy to see that the trails were mostly clean. But when you get to Merrillville they do NOT clean there trail.
The trail is very nice and parking is good. Bike tire pump and tools available.
it is a beautiful trail that is fairly well maintained and has lots of benches for rest. It is great for walking, running, and biking. As someone who looks for trails to rollerblade, this isn’t quite as ideal.
Trail conditions & character
“Parking isn't super generous at the Summit Street trail Head so you can meet the trail elsewhere or park closer to Crown Point square and take the bike lane in.”
“It is paved which is not our preference as we're used to dirt or packed gravel with our 29er DS bikes, but not a bad ride to keep you warmed up in between longer trails.”
“My only complaints are the power station and power towers all ruin the views and the women's bathroom smelled like cigarettes and pee.”
