Confirmed from Fahey Ave Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Fahey Ave Trailhead
“It's a very scenic trail but it's not a trail that was converted from a railbed so be prepared for some hills.”
This trail is paved and is in excellent condition for most of its ten mile route into Hastings, where it brings you down to and along the Mississippi river and under the Highway 61 bridge.
Real nice bike path and many times you get to see the buffalo up close. Of the 5 times I've been there I have seen the buffalo 4 times.
Cool spot to see bison, as well as access the Scharr Bluff trail and even an archery target loop! Bison were visible today in paddock #1, but they're not always easy to see.
Nice asphalt trail. Pretty level. Lots of bikers went Monday am around 10:30. Went to look at Bison but they were in 7/8 corral but there is no viewing those areas so that was disappointing. I think if you go to the web page it will tell you which corral they are in. We walked to the bridge...beautiful view about 4.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
