Confirmed from Spring Lake Park Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Absolutely loved biking the Mississippi River Trail at Spring Lake Park Reserve! The trail is smooth, wide, and perfect for both biking and walking. We rode about 10 miles and enjoyed gorgeous views of the Mississippi River, peaceful forest paths, and even passed by the bison reintroduction area.

This is an amazing 20 mile round trip bike ride from Hastings!!!!!! This should be an annual fall leaf color ride. Hilly, good ride. Only complaint was the Asian beetles at West Trailhead picnic spot by archery section. Views of Mississippi and elevation and deciduous trees make this spectacular.

★★★★★ — Tamara , Oct 2020

A hidden jewel on the south shore of the Mississippi river, this large, manicured park has many walking trails, picnic shelters, and a nice playground for the kiddos. Our toddler grandson had a fall birthday party here and every generation had something to enjoy.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
