Confirmed from Fairfield Park - Round Lake Area Park District's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fairfield Park - Round Lake Area Park District

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (237 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Well kept course with trimming of grass and brush (which we love for when we gotta go searching for discs lol).”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful surroundings and challenging holes in Gold and White levels for experienced and beginners golfers.”

Great course with 18 holes, particularly when dry - mosquitoes love the area after rain. Nice balance of open and wooded areas. There's a river that runs through part of the course which will steal your discs. After a rain certain areas can flood or get muddy and soggy, especially the tall grass.

★★★★☆ — Tony , Dec 2018

Awesome park love the disc golf course. Great walking path that stretches from round lake to volo!

★★★★★ — Dominic , Jun 2022

Nice place to walk and enjoy the trail. Have yet to explore the stretch of the trail.

★★★★★ — Day , May 2024

Lived in round lake my whole life almost and this place has always been a larger course. They tend to it well and it offers 2 courses ( an easy/ white and a harder one / gold ) The bike trail also goes through it and goes for miles! We rode the trail and obviously played the courses and it really is a great time!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🌳 Shaded / tree cover 8 mentions

“The back half of the course is wooded and provides more technical challenge with the addition of water hazards.”
