Great year-round groomed trails that feel they're in a remote wilderness. Excellent layout and design. Very large, yet manageable trail system. Can run there for many, many miles, not see the same thing, and still have easy navigation.
Far North Bicentennial Park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, covering more than 3,000 acres of forests, streams, and open meadows on the northern edge of Anchorage.
Good day for bears 5/22! Saw a mama and 3 adorable cubs along Campbell Airstrip road, then a single bear at the Airstrip trailhead. All black bears. Walked 3 miles through the park--a lovely walk in the woods. Clean, peaceful, not a lot of people when I went around 4 pm.
Very fun,started out confused with the trails and trying to stay off the ski only paths. Once I figured out the map, there were so many trail's to take. You can make your hike a short one or go all day. Cool variety of trails, nice upkeep and great pedestrian environment.
