Confirmed from Farmington Canal Heritage Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Long rural hiking trail following the route of a 19th-century canal & the railway that replaced it.
What runners say about Farmington Canal Heritage Trail
“Love this trail very well maintained with lots of history with great views”
“It was not very challenging but a beautiful trail through woods ferns fields and it even has a picnic table in the middle of the forest in order to stop and eat and rest.”
Great walk or bike ride, beautiful scenery, close to wildlife, only took away a star because towards dusk, the mosquitos can be a little harsh. Best to use during sunny hours.
This was an off-the-beaten-path trail that I went to with my grandson. It was not very challenging but a beautiful trail through woods ferns fields and it even has a picnic table in the middle of the forest in order to stop and eat and rest. I will definitely go back again
