Confirmed from Metacomet Trail Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with kid-friendly paths leading to scenic views.
What runners say about Metacomet Trail Trailhead
“Moderate hike, a few steep spots and some tripping hazards so probably not ideal for small children, but you are rewarded with some scenic views of the northern Farmington Valley.”
“Very well maintained trail and clearly marked for those who need it.”
Nice out and back hike, which you can make as long or short as you'd like! Did about a 6 mile (round trip, 3 out and 3 back) trip on this particular section, but you could go for many more miles!
Very well maintained trail and clearly marked for those who need it. Steep in some parts and loose rocks but children were able to accomplish it and make it to the top.
Always a great hike and view pup was extremely excited as he was able to make many like friends. Only real challenge with this trail is the start. Semi steep incline but one through it’s pretty easy-going.
Love this trail. Moderate hike with some scrambling near the top when you take the paradise route (hang a right and follow the blue trail). The view @ the top is nice but come early or be prepared to share (with a mask) it with lots of other hikers. It took us average hikers about 2.5 hrs without breaks for 6.

“🤔🤷♂️ but overall a nice hike, nothing too strenuous if you're a novice hiker, a little bit of Incline, but alot of flat once your up on the ridgeline.”
