Confirmed from Farmington Canal Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This trail is well maintained and is awesome for walking, biking, skating, etc. Be careful at the crosswalks because there are a good amount of drivers who unfortunately ignore the crossing lights.

I park here all the time to bike my 33 mile loop to Farmington, Avon, Simsburry, left to Canton, Collinsville, Unionville, Farmington, and back to Plainville, it can get pretty packed but there always seems to be a few more parking places left.

Great place for multi sport purposes. Clean and well maintained. Put in mind there are no restrooms or places to sit down. Maybe some benches here and there but not kore than that at least every 3 miles.

We rode the East Coast Greenway from New Haven all the way to Boston. This section was probably the best of the whole trip. The Farmington Canal trail is really well cared for and is really wide at most points. We stopped and ate lunch at this trailhead. It was the perfect spot.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 13 mentions

“When we visited there was a mobile toilet a bit north of the parking before the gate of some electric company.”
