Confirmed from Farny State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Moderate hiking place. The white trail leads to couple ponds and a huge reservoir. The reservoir is gorgeous and you can do fishing or kayaking. Best seasons - spring and fall

Farny SP partly encircles Splitrock Reservoir, itself a great place to explore by kayak. There is an extensive trail network, but only a few that can be linked for a circumnavigation of the reservoir. There are several sections of fairly substantial elevation changes. The trails are rocky and can certainly be tricky.

The trails around Split Rock reservoir have observation points with pretty views of the lake. The trail is well marked , crosses interesting rock formations, a few streams, one has a rope installed the helps you cross a pretty deep stream.

Cub scouts camped here Columbus day weekend. My son loved the trail leading down the beaver made lake. The campground has bathrooms and platforms for tents. A four person tent is the max you fit on the platform.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
