Confirmed from Fenster Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Small nature reserve with trails, riverside beaches and ample salmon, plus a friendly staff.

What runners say about Fenster Nature Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (179 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“It was fun and a gorgeous place.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Calm natural area, was hoping to see some salmon but water was too murky.”

This is a great little nature park along Green River. There are a few gravel paths and game trails that skirt along the river. There are several interpretive signs that describe the evolution of the area. Excellent views of the river. There are no facilities and no real parking options...

I volunteered as a tree planter with my two children for a day. It was fun and a gorgeous place. We loved it. The only thing I suggest is that a parking area is created. We had to park far away along the residential street then walk in.

★★★★★ — Katie , Nov 2018

It is my family's favorite place to take walks, and swim in the river!! It is lovely and, for the most part, peaceful and quiet!

★★★★★ — Sarah , Jul 2020

Great place for a walk or a dip in the river . No bathrooms. The trail is dirt and rock, so wear good shoes . Please pack out everything you pack in and keep your dog on a leash. many of the free roaming dogs often end up fighting. Great people are always around to help out if you forget anything for your visit.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 6 mentions

“Wonderful access to the green river, parking is a bit sparse at the park.”

Plan your run at Fenster Nature Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.

Posted hours for the park or trailhead. Gates and parking lots often close earlier than the trail itself, and seasonal hours change — worth a check before a pre-dawn or after-dark run.
