Confirmed from Fern Hollow Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed, beautiful facility offering educational programs, camps, and festivals for all ages.

“Very cool place with lots of activities for outdoor fitness as well as educational opportunities for all ages, mainly, youngsters.”
I come here to think and just “be” on good days and sad days and everything in between. A quiet, beautiful little oasis that I’m so grateful for! My fondest memories moving to Pittsburgh are picnics with my spouse here. Run by very amiable, environment-forward individuals who keep it such a lovely, well-kept place.
Went there to attend a "Burgh Bees", day-long learning seminar. Good facilities, large and well maintained trail network and interesting antique vehicle display.
So many good things about this place. You can rent out the facility, staff is always great, trails, playground for kids. Love the signage labeling trees and plants, they do tons of activities all year round for a hugely diverse set. Kids camps, music festivals, cookouts, adult learning activities you name it.
Absolutely beautiful surroundings. Beautiful for stargazing. The fireflies at night are magical. Just taking a walk around it wonderful.
Trail conditions & character
“You have an UNOBSTRUCTED (270 degrees) view of the northern sky and the circumpolar constellations.”
“But my favorite thing to do at FHNC is stargaze--there is a bench there at the apex of the hill that looks over the valley DIRECTLY at the North Star.”
“A quiet, beautiful little oasis that I’m so grateful for!”
