Confirmed from Fernwood Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded trail punctuated by a creek and featuring markers identifying trees and plants.

“Fernwood Nature Trail is a wonderful place for a peaceful walk and a mental reset.”
A very nice although short (0.4 mile) trail going through a dense forest along a bubbling brook. Many interesting plants grow around, with interpretive signage here and there. It’s a loop trail following the brook on both sides. Lots of shade even in the middle of the day because of tall old trees.
30 minute nature walk, includes salamanders, avoid poison ivy and mosquitoes
A nice little urban trail that feels like an an easy mountain trail in Paris Mountain or even Pisgah Forest. A loop trail of approximately 1/3 mile in length, Fernwood is accessed from Woodland Way near the beach Volleyball Court in Cleveland Park.
It's worth exploring each season for the flora and fauna of it all. It's like a little piece of heaven. My dogs love this trail. Good for kids of all ages. It is a single wide path and not wheelchair accessible; not paved.
