Confirmed from Finger Lakes Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Finger Lakes Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (64 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Hundreds of miles of some of the most beautiful scenery and best hiking in New York.”

Fall is here. Don't miss this overlook! Lots of parking. Short walk to overlook but can also connect to other trails. This is the start/end of the Bristol Hills branch of the FLT. Be sure to call the office if you plan to park overnight and hike in! Great park.

Such a well maintained trail system. Hundreds of miles of some of the most beautiful scenery and best hiking in New York. I can't Express how great this trail system is. It covers almost all of upstate and connects to the North Country Trail system extending across the country.

Ontario County Park is a not so hidden gem. Campsites, RV sites, bathrooms with showers. Wonderful mountain biking and hiking trails. Playgrounds for kids and softball diamonds. OCP is a terminus of a leg of the Finger Lakes Trail. One of my go to locations for trail running and mountain biking.

Awesome trails with varying difficulties. They have really good campgrounds and cabins too. Definitely a good place to be atleast once. Fall would be the best time.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
