Confirmed from Fonferek's Glen Brown County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fonferek's Glen Brown County Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (162 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“I was here on January 1st and although the trails are not groomed there was so many beautiful sites and because no trails groomed you could pretty much go anywhere, which I did.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

Beautiful place, trails are nice. There is a water crossing that could soak your shoes so be prepared. Also while clearly marked the trails can be tricky, Rocky, and hazardous. The waterfall is easily accessible.

Pretty area. Wouldn't necessarily make this a destination, but it's kind of cool. You're basically hiking in the back 80 of someone's farm. The waterfall is pretty and there is a trail we got bored with then turned around.

★★★★★ — Amanda , Oct 2021

This is a very neat place to do a little hiking. There are a lot of trails that are not marked so you can wander around for several hours. The water level was super low so we were able to walk places that normally might be filled with water. There were nice views and lots of rocks to climb on.

★★★★★ — Denise , Jun 2023

Very beautiful scenery, love coming here whenever I come to visit Wisconsin! Sadly there's been graffiti done on the rocks and many of the signs that could be inappropriate for children to come across (swears, vulgar imagery).

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Fonferek's Glen Brown County Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
