Confirmed from Founders Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Open-air area featuring playgrounds, walking trails, and disc golf.
What runners say about Founders Park
The Leland Lights are really something special. The set up is done great for families to walk through and up to and a small playground is nearby to play at after. The best part, it's free for the community to enjoy, something that you don't see enough of that really helps make this special for this time of the year.
The Christmas lights here are so nice, in the past we’ve gone to Airlie and had to pay but Founders park in Leland is a great FREE activity. This is a walk through not drive through & the path is nicely paved so the stroller didn’t have any issues.
Great place for walking, lots of trees. Parking, Frisbee golf, and doggy bags for💩. No bathrooms.
Great walking path, disc golf, swings for the kids and even served as an early voting site.
Trail conditions & character
“The Christmas display is absolutely beautiful, and with the season just around the corner, the Leland in lights display has become a tradition started three years ago.”
“Parking, Frisbee golf, and doggy bags for💩.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
