Confirmed from Westgate Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded park featuring playgrounds and information about animals and trees.
What runners say about Westgate Nature Park
“Good small clean park with an aligned dog walking route, that takes you thru the "forest" with some stories for the kids to read.”
“The scenic classroom at the end of the short trail is nice for picnics or reading--but there are no tables, just benches.”
My kids (3 and 6) love the playground with different activities, especially the digger in the sand. There are signs with useful information about animals and their habitats.
Quaint little park! Tucked behind a small Subdivision. Has 4 picnic tables, Lots of things to climb, with informational signs about trees, bees, etc. Walk the 1/4 mile nature walk. There's a small outdoor classroom setup with benches at the end. Very scenic.
Just wish it were more longer! Love it back in the woods, can almost forget the city is so close by😊 Playground with picnic tables. Little cupboard library 😍🤩👍. Benches along the trail. The end has a wooden deck overlooking the marsh. Very pleasant. ♿ Accessible throughout👍👍
The park is small but mighty. The trail is nice and wide. There's a Little Library, so bring your discards! The scenic classroom at the end of the short trail is nice for picnics or reading--but there are no tables, just benches.

Plan your run at Westgate Nature Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
