Confirmed from Franciscan Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

We're so glad that this trail was added to Beech Grove. It's our weekly walking spot with the dog. It is always well maintained and it has always been safe. Plenty of nature to be seen as well. If you aren't walking to the trailhead then I recommend parking in Sarah T. Bolton Park near the basketball courts.

Beautiful place for a walk in the middle of Beech Grove. 2.2 miles of flat, smooth walking or biking (two lanes). Plenty of pet cleanup stations for walking your dog. The path winds between neighborhoods and connects two parks. A real treasure for this local community.

A peaceful, accessible gem tucked into Beech Grove. The Franciscan Trail is a flat, wide asphalt path that makes for an easy, relaxing stroll or bike ride. It winds through mostly wooded areas and crosses Lick Creek via four charming bridges—each offering serene views of the water and surrounding greenery.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
