Confirmed from Frederick Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Frederick Recreation Area
“Beautiful place, I love all of the wood carvings and amazing mountain views by the lake.”
“Beautiful sunsets and great place to walk and run all around the lake.”
“A dog park, an exercise area, a playground, picnic areas, and plenty of shade.”
“It is peaceful and beautiful.”
I love this lake and taking a walk on the path (1.26 miles) around the lake. For me, there is a serenity at this lake and you can catch some really nice sunsets and views of the front range mountains.
Nice little reservoir. It has a walking path around the whole thing with great views of the mountains. There is a small dog park with limited shade and no water. There are typically people catching fish and lots of places to fish. There are restrooms and trail access to Firestone trail.
Fantastic views 24/7/365, especially at sunrise and sunset. Ideal distance around for a short walk (1.26mi).
We started walking our dogs around the reservoir, then we started fishing. The 14-16 inch pan size trout limits us out each time we fish.
