Confirmed from Frick Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Lush city park featuring grassy picnic areas, off-leash dog play spots & hiking trails.
What runners say about Frick Park
“The park is well maintained and offers a playground, bathrooms and hiking trails.”
“Now, during October it looks beautiful with the foliage and it's big enough to "get out of the city" 🍁🍁”
“Beautiful and spacious park full of amenities and peaceful views.”
“This park was everything from easy walking trails to steeper inclines.”
The park is quite big, to walk or ride a bycicle. We go mostly to use the pickle ball fields at the end of some days of the week and it's not packed with people. We always, so far, had a chance of using one of the courts.
Amazing Park to walk and relax. It has a lot of different paths, but none is particularly hard. During Fall the views are amazing, every tree is colorful and splendid. The place has entrances from many directions. At the entrances you can find a map, don't forget to take a picture.
It's one of my favorite escapes. This park was everything from easy walking trails to steeper inclines. It is a great way to spend a day. I grew up lsliding down the blue slide, and now I enjoy running and hiking around the whole park.
This park is large! Offers paved trails, off-road trails and gravel trails! Great for all ages Onewheeling, bicycling, running, walking your dog. Also has playgrounds and a fountain. Beautiful!! Highly Recommend!!!

“Super nice spot to walk to, honestly it’s a go to place if you live near squirrel hill.”

“We went Onewheeling here and some of the big gravel path was very difficult to make it through, and we had to turn around.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
